Teachers of elementary and special education students at Greene County and Paton-Churdan schools were slated to receive their first dose of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine today, Feb. 5. According to public health director Becky Wolf, remaining staff in both districts will receive vaccines next week, depending on availability of the vaccine.
Wolf said the public health department has had “a very positive response” to its waiting list system, but she asked for patience through the process. “It’s important to remember that Greene County public health has been working with Covid for the past 12 months,” she said. “The staff are dedicated to serving you, but they are under a tremendous amount of stress right now. Disgruntled callers can be hurtful.
“We ask for your patience, kindness and respect with our staff as we work through Tier 1 and our 65 years and older populations. The amount of vaccine remains limited and we’re doing our best to meet your needs in a fair and equitable manner.”

Wolf reported Friday morning the 14-day positivity rate for Covid-19 testing in Greene County is at 4.8 percent as of Tuesday morning, Feb. 2.
The total number of Covid-19 cases in the county is 747. There has been one new case in the last 24 hours, eight in the last three days, 10 in the last seven days, and 17 new cases in the last 14 days. Of the total, 88 are active cases. Eight Greene County residents have died from Covid-19.
